Career Description

My career choice is Registered Nurse. My goal for the future is to complete my Nursing Degree through Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.  My choice of continuing education is not just a random choice.  I have had the opportunity to view this field from different perspectives and experiences.  Through my Health Occupation class, I participate in clinical hours at the local nursing homes, hospital, and EMS Department. I have job shadowed and volunteered at the local hospital. During my volunteer times, I received permission from the patients to observe and I have viewed two vaginal births, a c-section, and a circumcision.  I love working with and helping others.  These experiences have only strengthened my desire to become a registered nurse.  Ultimately, I would like to work in a maternity ward or a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Registered Nurses also promote overall fitness and health to patients. Nurses examine patients’ medical histories and then conduct many tests and measure the patients’ overall strength in all areas of health. Register nurses follow a plan which describes the treatment the patient will need and the outcome the doctors are looking to find.  Nursing is widely needed due to the technology that is saving more and more victims every day.

The nurses work in several locations. Some of these locations are in hospitals, clinics, home health care services, and private offices. Nurses not only treat patients in the offices that they work in, but also in hospital rooms, homes, or schools.
